In order to better equip young people with a solid opportunity to enter into an income-generating activity, EBLI has rented a small plot of land in Kisesa on the edge of town. Small-scale agriculture continues to be the dominant way of life, practiced by some two-thirds of Tanzanians. By renting this plot, young people are given the chance to work the land without the large burden of paying the rent themselves, reaping the profits of what they sow. The initial planting, pictured below, is comprised of beans and corn.
