The results of the National Examination in Secondary Education, held in November 2017, are out. We are incredibly happy and proud to announce, that 67% of EBLI's students who went to the exams passed successfully. It was the first class of EBLI's students who did the National Examination. They will receive their Certificates of Secondary Education, which allow them to study or to get employed. What a great step in each student's life. They were dropped out of school, already facing a life in poverty and difficulties. But they all gave their best, worked hard and did not give up - living their vision of a better life for themselves and their children.
Every Friday, EBLI is life on air on radio Metro FM Mwanza, FM 99.3. Issues of young people are articulated and discussed with the listeners. Today, the youth officer from Ilemela Municipal Council answered listeners questions on the challenges facing young people in development. He was assisted by Elizabeth and Mary from EBLI's SRHR department.
In Mwanza's Secondary Schools, the clubs Kijana Chagua Maisha have just started teaching students about Sexual & Reproductive Health & Rights (SRHR) and Gender Based Violence (GBV). Focusing on peer-to-peer teachings, EBLI supports the leaders of the clubs as well as the teachers.
The13th batch of youth have embarked on EBLI’s Computer Literacy Program. 90% of the students are young mothers from resource poor communities. They are delighted that EBLI believes in their future and in offering vulnerable youth a second shot at education.
